AI survey analysis

AI survey analysis for open-ended responses

Validata's AI survey analysis puts an army of specialist AI analysts on every response. They read every open-ended answer, group it into themes with the quotes behind each one, test every pattern and block any claim your data can't support. Every number is computed from your responses, and every finding links back to the answers behind it.

What it does

What does AI survey analysis do in Validata?

Open-ended answers explain the numbers in a survey, and they take the longest to read. Validata automatically groups the written answers into themes, so you start from the patterns instead of the first reply.

Every number in the report is computed from your responses, never invented. Each finding links to the answers behind it and is labelled Strong effect or Exploratory. Employee Engagement, CSAT and NPS surveys get dedicated analyses, and General Analysis works on every other survey type except healthcare, which is coming soon.

How it works

How does Validata analyze survey responses?

Four steps, from the first response to a report you can read.

Collect at least 8 responses

Analysis uses completed responses and needs at least 8 of them. Below that the Analyze button stays off, so early on you read the replies yourself.

Choose what goes in

For each question, choose Analyze answers, Quote answers or Leave out. Add comparison questions, and device and location details if they matter to your question.

Run the analysis

Start a report from the survey's analysis tab. It runs while you wait, up to about 2 minutes, and your reports are listed in one place.

Review themes and quotes

Read each theme with its quotes, the number of answers it is based on, and its Strong effect or Exploratory label. Check the quotes before you act on a finding.

What you get

What does the analysis show?

Findings arranged around your questions, with the evidence next to each one.

Themes from open answers

Recurring ideas in the written answers, grouped automatically. A theme needs answers from at least 3 different people.

Quotes behind each theme

Real quotes from your respondents, trimmed and checked for personal data, shown beside the rating the same person gave.

Counts and a strength label

Each finding says how many answers it is based on and is labelled Strong effect or Exploratory. Small samples get a hedged report.

How it is checked

How does Validata check the numbers?

An army of analysts, statisticians and reviewers works every response, and a claim without support never reaches your report.

Computed, never invented

Every number in your report is calculated from your responses by code. The AI reads and writes; it never makes up a figure.

28 steps deep

Each analysis runs through 28 steps: privacy checks, a specialist analyst for every question type, statistics with false-alarm control, and a test for hidden factors behind every gap.

Reviewers block weak claims

A review board locks every sentence to the answers behind it. A claim your data can't support is blocked before it reaches your report, and findings say "associated with", never "causes".

Clean data in

Coming soon

Validata will check every response for speeding, straightlining, failed attention checks and gibberish, and keep low-quality responses out of your numbers.

Manual or AI

When is reading the answers enough, and when should you use Validata?

Both are sound. What decides it is how many written answers you have and how often you will repeat the work.

Read them yourself

With a small set of replies, reading every one is quick and often tells you more. Validata does not run analysis below 8 responses, so a handful of answers is yours to read.

Use Validata

When the written answers outgrow what one person can read and tag consistently, or you repeat the same survey, grouping and quotes save the first pass.

Check the quotes either way

Whichever route you take, read the quotes behind a theme before you act. The two guides below show how to count themes and where labels can go wrong.

Limits

What does Validata need, and what does it leave to you?

What it needs before it runs, and what it leaves to you.

Starts at 8 responses

Analysis needs at least 8 completed responses. Under 40, Validata holds back the sections a small sample can't support and tells you which ones.

A specialist for every question

Ratings, choices, multi-selects, rankings, matrices and open text each get their own analyst.

One free analysis

Every account, Free included, gets one free analysis, once, with at least 8 completed responses. More analyses need Validata+ credits or purchased AI credits.

You stay the judge

Every finding shows its strength and the quotes behind it, and says "associated with", never "causes", so you decide what to act on.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about AI survey analysis in Validata.

  • AI survey analysis is software that reads the answers to a survey, mainly the written ones, and turns them into findings you can act on. In Validata an army of specialist AI analysts reads every answer, groups open-ended replies into themes with quotes, tests every pattern, and links each finding to the answers behind it. Every number is computed from your responses.

  • Yes. Specialist AI analysts read every answer, group them into themes and write the report. The math is done by code: every number is computed from your responses, and reviewers block any claim your data can't support, so the AI can't invent a finding.

  • You choose which questions to analyze and which written answers to quote, then start a report from the survey's analysis tab. Validata groups the answers into themes, shows the quotes behind each one, states how many answers it rests on, and labels each finding Strong effect or Exploratory. You review the quotes before acting.

  • Analysis starts at 8 completed responses. With fewer than 40, Validata holds back the sections a small sample can't support and names them in a banner, so a small survey never gets false certainty.

  • Yes, once. Every account, Free included, gets one free analysis, with at least 8 completed responses. The Free plan lets you build surveys and collect up to 50 responses in total; more analysis needs Validata+ credits or purchased AI credits. The pricing page lists the current plans, limits and credits.

  • General Analysis works on every survey type except healthcare, which is coming soon. Employee Engagement, CSAT and NPS surveys get dedicated analyses: engagement drivers for teams, satisfaction scores and service-recovery actions for CSAT, and the promoter, passive and detractor split with recommendation drivers for NPS. The analysis follows the type your survey declares, and per question you choose Analyze answers, Quote answers or Leave out.

  • Validata doesn't ask you to trust a percentage. It shows you the evidence: every number is computed from your responses, each finding carries a confidence score and a Strong effect or Exploratory label, every claim is locked to the answers behind it, and small samples are flagged. Before any change to the analysis ships, it must reproduce the headline numbers of our benchmark surveys.

  • Yes. Each finding links back to the answers behind it, and each theme shows real quotes, trimmed and checked for personal data. Read them before you share a finding: the quotes are the evidence.
